PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS:
The Midwest Independent System Operator (Midwest ISO) controls the electrical power grid for most of the Midwest portion of the United States. The control center and support spaces must be operational at all times. The 100,000 square foot, mission-critical facility includes a data center, Class A office space, training areas, boardrooms, and executive offices.
The control center is a self-contained hardened structure capable of withstanding a Category 4 tornado. The precautions are essential as this facility houses a state-of-the-art operation where electrical transactions across the Midwest power grid are tracked, monitored, and scheduled. All of the mechanical and electrical systems are housed within the hardened structure.
